A Living Legacy of Healing Touch: The Woman Who Helped Shape Generations of Healers

Some people witness history. Others help shape it, carry it forward, and inspire the generations who follow.

Mary Ann Geoffrey has done all three.

In this episode of The Energy Healing Podcast, host Leila Briggs welcomes one of Healing Touch's earliest certified practitioners and instructors for a remarkable conversation about the people, experiences, and guiding principles that helped shape Healing Touch into the program it is today.

Mary Ann's journey into energy healing began long before she encountered Healing Touch. With a background in nursing and a lifelong curiosity about the relationship between the mind, body, and spirit, she followed a series of experiences that deepened her understanding of holistic health, intuition, and spiritual awareness. Eventually, that journey led her to travel 750 miles to attend the second Healing Touch class in existence.

From there, she would study directly with Janet Mentgen, become the fifth certified Healing Touch practitioner and tenth certified instructor, and help establish the early certification process that supported the program's growth. Through decades of teaching, mentoring, and service, Mary Ann has helped guide practitioners who would go on to influence Healing Touch in their own right.

Yet some of the most memorable moments in this conversation aren't about accomplishments. They're about Mary Ann's relationship with Janet, the lessons she learned about grounding and balance, the stories that strengthened her commitment to healing, and the joy she continues to find in learning something new.

At 88, Mary Ann remains a student of life, exploring intuition, spirituality, and new ways to offer hope and encouragement to others. She also shares the story behind Hands of Light, the song inspired by Healing Touch and created by her daughter Pamela.

About Mary Ann Geoffrey

Mary Ann Geoffrey is one of the pioneering practitioners and instructors who helped shape the early development of Healing Touch. With a background in nursing, holistic health, personal development, and spiritual exploration, she has dedicated more than three decades to studying, practicing, teaching, and sharing energy healing.

Mary Ann attended the second Healing Touch class in existence and went on to study all five levels directly with founder Janet Mentgen. In 1993, she became the fifth certified Healing Touch practitioner and tenth certified instructor.

She also served on the early Healing Touch International certification board, helping develop the initial certification application, train reviewers, and establish processes that supported the program's growth. Throughout her career, Mary Ann has mentored numerous students and reviewed more than 150 Healing Touch case studies.

Her commitment to lifelong learning has also led her into intuitive development and spiritual studies. Today, she continues offering healing work, intuitive guidance, and encouragement, guided by her belief that we are never finished learning, growing, or contributing to the world around us.

Mary Ann remains a passionate advocate for Janet Mentgen's vision of making Healing Touch accessible to everyone.
