The 2011 conference offers a wide choice of potent, educational breakout sessions. The wonderful opportunities will make it hard to choose. In order to help you, we have created a worksheet that you can download, print and mark your first and second choice. When you register, you can use it as a "cheat sheet" so your registration will be fast and easy. Click here to download the worksheet.

In past conferences, participants have been able to change breakout sessions when they arrive at conference. In 2011 space requirements may dictate changing at the door will not be possible, so please consider this when marking your first and second choice.

Leading pediatric, adult, and veteran/hospice focused health care institutions have elected to offer Healing Touch to its patients and their caregivers. It can be challenging to receive administrative approval, financially cover training costs for staff, and implement an integrative modality into traditional health care. This workshop will explain and offer ideas on how this was successfully accomplished throughout the United States and how others can also make this healing modality a reality in their places of employment.

Walle Adams-GerdtsWalle Adams-Gerdts is the coordinator for the Healing Touch Program at Nemours/Alfred I duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. In 2007, Adams-Gerdts developed and submitted a business plan for this integrative therapy in the hospital. Her pioneering spirit and endless energy earned her the hospital's Image of Nursing 2009 award, the 2009 Delaware Acute Care Nurse of the Year award, and acknowledgment as one of five finalists in the Acute Care category in the 2010 Nursing Spectrum Awards for the Tri-state area of DE/MD/PA.

 


Denise AnthesDenise Anthes has been a holistic nurse for 35 years. She currently serves as an Integrative Health Nurse within the Mission Hospital Healthcare System in Asheville, NC, offering Healing Touch to patients, staff and the community. Denise teaches HTP Level 1 & 2 classes as well as other holistic workshops. She is enrolled in doctoral work in Integrative Healthcare through Holos University.

Mary JoDr. Mary Jo Bulbrook is an elder and wisdom keeper in the Healing Touch worldwide community having brought HT to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Peru. For over 35 years she has pioneered energy based therapies in transcultural teaching and practice for all ages with a variety or traumatic conditions for both humans and animals. The story-telling process was introduced in 2008 and has gained acceptance and popularity as an easy intervention to make profound changes. She developed an international model guiding the development of the field for energetic disaster relief.

Crop circles are a modern day phenomenon with implications beyond human comprehension. This workshop provides insight into the science of the mystery that has intrigued researchers, scientists, healers, and mystics throughout the world for decades. Explore the enigma, feel the power, learn from symbols and sacred geometry. Awareness expands consciousness toward all possibilities. There were over one hundred elaborate crop circles worldwide in 2010. What is the message? What are the circlemakers communicating?

Ann CathcartAnn Cathcart is a holistic nurse, certified in Healing Touch since 1996 and a charter member of HTPA. She is privileged to serve as vice chair on the Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation board of trustees and maintains an independent healing practice in the Minneapolis area. She has presented at three HTI conferences on a variety of topics. As adjunct faculty to several nursing schools in the Minneapolis area, she teaches health/wellness principles, holistic and integrative health. She has studied metaphysics for most of her life and has held a fascination with crop circles for more than ten years. She has visited the Wiltshire area of England, where a majority of crop circles appear and experienced the energy, joy, science and mystery of many elaborate circles. She is excited to share her findings with fellow healers.

The Biology Behind Healing Touch Practice Building

In keeping with the conference theme “Bridging Science and Spirit” this presentation will discuss, in easy to understand terms for nonscientists, the biological basis of Healing Touch. The concepts of how Healing Touch can stimulate and work with the body’s own physiology and biochemistry to promote healing will be presented. Have you ever been asked “how does Healing Touch work” to relieve stress or enhance the immune response? This presentation will provide the answers from published scientific research by explaining Healing Touch in the framework of western medicine.

Beverly DixonDr. Beverly Dixon has been practicing HT 2003 and has taken courses in Energy Medicine and HT for animals. She has given presentations on HT at hospitals, clinics, and conferences. Beverly completed training in biology with an undergraduate degree from Southampton College of Long Island Univ (B.A.), an M.S.P.H. from the School of Public Health, Univ of North Carolina, and a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Univ of Georgia. She has been teaching medical microbiology at the university level for 25+ yrs. In 1993 she received a grant from the Belgian National Science Foundation and spent 6 months at the University of Ghent conducting research. In 2000, she was chosen as a Fulbright Scholar and spent 6 months teaching in Poland at the University of Warmia and Mazury. She currently teaches students majoring in nursing, biology, and medical technology at California State Univ., Eastbay, where she was nominated as Outstanding Professor for the academic year 2006-07.

Healing the Healer - Simple Tools for Self Healing Practice Building

As healers, we share love and energy with our clients. To stay balanced and full of vitality, it is important that we care for ourselves. One of the most important ways we can care for ourselves is to clear the body and energy field at the beginning and end of each day- clearing our clients problems as well as our own difficulties every day. This workshop will address simple techniques for gathering energy before we begin our healing work as well as tools for clearing the body and the energy field after each client or at the end of each day. Dress casually and get ready to have some fun!

Dr. Chiasson Dr. Ann Marie Chiasson is Canadian Board Certified in Family Practice and pursued a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine through Dr. Andrew Weil's Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. She holds an MPH in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a MD, from Dalhousie School of Medicine in Nova Scotia, Canada. She completed her residency in Family Medicine in Canada and worked as a primary care physician in Northern Canada for the Central Interior Native Health Service, and in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Chiasson has also trained extensively with Dr. Brugh Joy, and with Mayan shamanic healers and psychic surgeons in the Yucatan peninsula.

Dying is a part of living – a theme stressed by hospice. We all have, or will, lose a family member, a friend, a loving pet. It is an emotional time when a living being fulfills life’s final contract. As practitioners, we are graced and honored to serve. This presentation will look at ways Healing Touch can help to calm the sometimes murky and stormy waters during such a delicate time.

Pamela MeyersDr. Pamela Meyers has been in the healthcare industry since 1978, and began her Healing Touch training in 1991. Her credentials include: Ph.D. in Health & Nutritional Sciences – she has worked with both Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC and Emory University at Crawford W. Long Hospital, Atlanta, GA; Former Assistant Professor at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, GA; Published author in professional journals and newspapers, including WebMD; has spoken nationwide and internationally, helping people take steps toward healthier living; and has actively volunteered with Hospice of Havasu, Lake Havasu City, AZ, since 2005 – providing Healing Touch to patients and educating volunteers and staff to the benefits of energy therapies to help ease the dying process.

Juggling Therapy is a FUN approach to improving one's mental, emotional and of course physical well-being. It is form of "Movement Meditation" that works to balance both hemispheres of the brain (right brain & left brain) to improve motor-skill functions, reading, writing, creativity, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-motivation, focus on tasks, multi-tasking. It can help combat and prevent the development of Anxiety, Alzheimer's, depression and a host of other mental and emotional diseases. It is a cardiovascular exercise that is actually fun to do, and is very safe for the joints of the body! It increases blood flow not just in the limbs but to your brain.

Jeannette NienaberBarbara Ann Starke has over 20 years of experience as an advance practice nurse. She specializes in energy-based therapies as well as functional medicine interventions. Barbara is currently co-Chair of the HTP Certification Board. In-between supporting HTP either through certification, program development, or her own practice in Berrien County, Barbara can be found on their Christmas Tree farm talking with the trees....or in the kitchen.
