Integrating Aromatherapy into Your Healing Touch Practice

This breakout session will inspire you to integrate aromatherapy in your healing practice. Entering the world of essential therapeutic oils is a perfect addition to Healing Touch. The practitioner and client experience expanded healing energy, which results in profound energetic healing. Knowledge gained will benefit the practitioner personally and professionally. Learn to appropriately handle oils for self and others while being aware of safety issues. A hand massage with a high frequency oil will top off the session.
Claramae Weber has traveled and lived in the world teaching and working with indigenous peoples where she learned the art of using herbs. As one of the first Healing Touch instructors, she has taught for the past 14 years with the Institute of Spiritual Healing and Aromatherapy where she now combines all of her experiences as a holistic nurse practitioner, certified clinical aromatherapist and certified Healing Touch Practitioner. Claramae now teaches advanced aromatherapy courses and aromatherapy teleseminars. In her free time, she works along with catholic nuns working with migrant Mexican farm workers teaching them the use of essential oils for health and healing.

Heart to Heart Connection with Horses to Raise Your Vibrational Energy Healing Field

This workshop introduces the power of the heart of the horse to help raise vibrational energy in human healers. The presenters introduce research they conducted between horses and humans using heart rate variability. Horses and humans were attached to ECG monitors and simultaneously measured during various states of interaction. When humans were mindful and open to the horse energy fields their parasympathetic activity improved.
Ellen Kaye Gehrke is a Professor of Community Health and the lead faculty for the Master's Program in Integrative Health at National University in San Diego. She has been conducting HRV related research with horses and humans for the past 5 years. She has developed energy medicine leadership programs for healthcare leaders and provides personal development and coaching for humans with her ten horses. She has completed HTP Level I, II and III as well as HTA I and has been trained in animal communications. She has adopted and gentled five wild mustangs and is a practitioner of energy medicine healing for animals. She is currently writing a book with the help of her horses about human energy interactions with horses.
José R. Criado is graduate student in the Master of Integrative Health program at National University in San Diego. He is also a staff scientist in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Neuroscience Department at the Scripps Research Institute. José earned a B.S. in psychology at the Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biological Psychology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His main research objective is in facilitating the translation of basic science knowledge into clinical tools, which aims at helping diagnose and treat neurological dysfunction. He is interested in integrating tools from the fields of Biomedical Sciences and Biofield Energy to study novel approaches to diagnose humandisease.

Afternoon The sound that is the most healing is our own sound (when correctly produced). We cannot be in the joy of our life’s journey nor steer it from the heart without the capacity to direct our sound inward or outward in free flow when we choose. This presentation is both experiential and informational, including simple, specific exercises to create more space in the body and energy field so the choice for joy is spontaneous.

Lourdes Lorenz is the Director of Integrative Healthcare at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. She has been an RN for almost 30 years with experience in critical care. Her extensive leadership and administrative background served her in the development of the framework for Integrative Healthcare at Mission Hospital. She promotes holistic nursing and lectures on evidence-based, complementary modalities in Western North Carolina. Ms. Lorenz is the current servant leader for the Blue Ridge Holistic Nurses Network of the AHNA. She is a Healing Touch apprentice who is certified in aromatherapy. Her interests and expertise are with medicinal herbs, indigenous healing systems, energy healing, guided imagery, meditation, and dance movement. She is also a board certified Advanced Holistic Nurse.
Denise Anthes is a Holistic Nurse Specialist at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Ms. Anthes is a Bachelor’s prepared nurse with an MBA who is currently a doctoral student. She has served in various clinical and managerial roles in her 30+ year nursing career, including NICU, L&D, hospice, and wound healing. She has served on the Nursing Faculty of AB Tech Community College. Ms. Anthes is board certified as a Holistic Nurse. She is a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner and Certified Instructor for Level 1 and 2 Healing Touch. She teaches a variety of holistic classes in Western North Carolina, including Healing Touch at Mission Hospital. Her motto for life and nursing care is to “start with the heart.”
Cindy Barkei is a Holistic Nurse Specialist at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Ms. Barkei has an extensive nursing background which includes critical care, medical cardiac step-down, and general medicine, as well as management and administrative positions. In 1996, Ms. Barkei was voted one of the “Great 100 Nurses in North Carolina.” She is board certified as a Holistic Nurse, is a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner, and is certified in Aromatherapy. Holistic nursing has always been paramount in Ms. Barkei’s practice; the patient has always been her primary focus.
